This research examines the relationship between social capital and the feeling of social anomie in Iran over the period 2003-2024. Using a quantitative meta-analysis method and a systematic review of 40 domestic studies, the findings reveal a strong, significant, and inverse relationship between these two constructs. The overall effect size of social capital on reducing anomie was calculated at -0.51. At the component level, social cohesion had the greatest impact, with an effect size of -0.54, followed by social trust (-0.47) and social belonging (-0.44). Other components, including social participation, religious belonging, social support, and social control, also demonstrated significant effects. The results, grounded in classical sociological theories by Durkheim and Merton, confirm the pivotal role of social capital as a protective shield against normative breakdown and social disorganization. The study underscores that in the context of Iranian society, which has faced rapid socio-economic transformations, the erosion of social capital—particularly in marginalized groups and areas—correlates with the spread of anomie. Conversely, strengthening the normative and relational fabric of society, including religious and local kinship networks, enhances collective resilience. Consequently, the research highlights the strategic necessity for policymakers and planners to prioritize interventions that fortify trust networks, foster social cohesion, and reinforce collective identities. Such measures are essential for mitigating feelings of meaninglessness and alienation, thereby promoting greater social stability and resilience in the face of ongoing crises. This comprehensive synthesis provides robust empirical evidence for integrating social capital development into national social policy frameworks to foster sustainable community well-being ,security.
