One type of multiple offenses committed by an individual involves a situation where a person engages in several criminal acts due to their deep interconnection. In this scenario, the strong connection between the primary crime and its associated peripheral crimes compels the person to commit all the criminal acts as a whole. This situation is referred to as “related crimes.” In such cases, the issue of recognizing these crimes as a unified set and determining a collective punishment for them has been a matter of debate. The key question of this research is whether it is feasible to penalize related crimes as part of a single criminal plan or to impose individual punishments for them within the Iranian legal system.
One type of multiple offenses committed by an individual involves a situation where a person engages in several criminal acts due to their deep interconnection. In this scenario, the strong connection between the primary crime and its associated peripheral crimes compels the person to commit all the criminal acts as a whole. For example, in the commission of the crime of eavesdropping on the content of non -public communications in transit, unauthorized access to data and protected systems inevitably occurs. Likewise, in the crime of smuggling, the transport of contraband goods is an inseparable part of committing the offense. Furthermore, although the possession of narcotics is in itself an independent crime, it is nevertheless a prerequisite for the use of such substances. This situation is referred to as “related crimes.” In such cases, the issue of recognizing these crimes as a unified set and determining a collective punishment for them has been a matter of debate. ..
