Abstract
This study aimed to develop a model for attracting donors to sports development. The research approach was a mixed (qualitative and quantitative) method in a convergent manner. The research method in the qualitative part was of a data-based type with a systematic approach. The semi-structured interview method was used to collect data. In the quantitative part, a survey description method was used, and a questionnaire was used to collect data. Data analysis was performed in the qualitative part using the Strauss and Corbin approach (1998) and in the quantitative part using the structural equations. The study’s statistical population in the qualitative part included 26 people. The quantitative part included 90 professors active in sports management, national donors, experts from endowment organizations, the ministry of sport and youth, and Ph.D. students in sports management who were selected through purposive sampling. Attracting donors for participation in sports development was identified as a central issue. After selective coding as a final model, the findings showed that the effective factors in attracting donors are religious contexts, socio-cultural values, attitudes, legal contexts of support, process management, identification of barriers, attitudes, and objectification of outputs. The goodness of fit (GOF) was achieved as 0/45, and the results showed that all paths were significant. Therefore, to attract donors to participate in sports development, it is necessary to find an interpretation of religious narrations and hadiths that indicate the importance of sports. Also, the factors that motivate the donors to be active in sports should be identified and developed.
