Women, as half of the human resources of societies, in addition to being the subject and goal of development, are an effective factor in advancing the goals of development. Studies show that women are more vulnerable to poverty and gender discrimination than men. Research in the country shows a high proportion of women living below the poverty line, especially the severe poverty of female-headed households. According to the data of the General Census of Population and Housing and the Statistics Center of Iran in 1398, using the logit and probit model, the relationship between the cause of female-headed household and poverty in female-headed households has been investigated. The results show that these variables residing in Sunni provinces, female caregivers 30 to 40 years and 70 years and older, have a significant effect on increasing the likelihood of poor households. Also, the variables of lower household size, being a housewife, being employed and having an income without a job, having a high number of students studying and being employed, reduce the likelihood of households being poor. Marital status had no significant effect on the likelihood of women heads of households being poor, and this may reflect the fact that since the main responsibility for heads of households is men, when women, regardless of whether they have a husband or not, whether due to the death of a husband and Because of divorce, it means that families are in a bad economic situation.
