Whereas, in comparison to the first factor, the growth of existing firms, especially when the main fraction of firm's capacity is left unused and in other words, the production level is less than optimal size, provides the basis for efficient allocation of production resources such as labor and capital. Accordingly, this paper attempts to estimate the optimal capacity and compare it with existing capacities of manufacturing industries to examine the increase of production by the growth of existing firms during 2005 to 2007. To estimate the optimal size of firms with ten and more employees in terms of production, the Comanor & Wilson Approach is used at the four-digit industry levels. The results indicate that more than 90 percent of manufacturing firms produce less than their optimal size and if the firms increase the production to achieve this size, the production level will increase at least by three to four times. Whereas, also in terms of the policy, achievement to the optimal size is very necessary to efficient allocation of production resources and thus increase national production in the industrial sector. در ادبیات اقتصادی ایجاد بنگاه‌های جدید و رشد بنگاه‌های موجود دو عامل اساسی در افزایش تولید محسوب می‌شود. این در حالی است که در مقایسه با ایجاد بنگاه‌های جدید، رشد بنگاه‌های موجود ـ خصوصاً زمانی که بخش عمده‌ای از ظرفیت این بنگاه‌ها خالی رها شده و تولید کمتر از اندازه کارا صورت می‌گیرد ـ زمینه را برای تخصیص بهینه منابع تولید که نیروی ‌کار و سرمایه از عمده‌ترین آنها محسوب می‌شود، فراهم می‌کند. بر این اساس، این مقاله می‌کوشد تا با تخمین ظرفیت‌های بهینه صنایع تولیدی و مقایسه آن با ظرفیت‌های موجود، امکان افزایش تولید این بخش را از مسیر رشد بنگاه‌های موجود بررسی کند. بنگاه‌های تولیدی با 10 نفر کارکن و بیشتر در مقاطع زمانی 1386-1384، داده‌های این پژوهش را تشکیل داده و برای تخمین اندازه کارا بر‌حسب تولید از روش‌های کومانور ـ ویلسون در سطح کدهای چهاررقمی ISIC استفاده شده است. نتایج نشان می‌دهد در مقاطع زمانی مورد بررسی، بیش از 90 درصد از بنگاه‌های صنایع تولیدی ایران کمتر از اندازه کارا فعالیت کرده و با دستیابی آنها به این اندازه افزایش تولید تا چهار برابر امکان‌پذیر است. این در حالی است که از حیث سیاستگذاری نیز، دستیابی به این اندازه ضروری‌ترین مسیر در تخصیص بهینه نیروی ‌کار، سرمایه و در نتیجه افزایش تولید ملی در بخش صنعت است. https://nashr.majles.ir/article_153_b3e3e393c77e35a4a3f3cbd1e429b5dc.pdf
