By allocating certain constitutional principles, a number of countries have passed various laws and regulations for the protection and sustainable utilization of natural resources. To implement these principles, a strategy in the “constitutionalization of natural resources” is gradually forming and developing, the aim of which is to create a normative and constitutional order to guarantee the preservation of the country’s natural resources for present and future generations alongside the sustainable utilization of these resources. Using a descriptive and legal-analytical method, this article examines the necessity of constitutionalizing the protection and sustainable utilization of natural resources and its pillars in Iranian law.
